Pic from National Geographic, October 2017.
I have a tube VOM with a battery in it that must be 50 years old. At first I worried, and then I stopped.

Isn’t it weird how you have to take batteries out of everything now? Maybe we should go back to zinc carbon?

It is stupid. But gotta make a profit.

Looks good!

Definitely. Look at the crap kerning on the right! Jeez.

You could widen the board and route outside the pins. Maybe?

Any chip can be a fuse, if used properly.

But what if you are??

Electronix Express
“840 tie point premium solderless breadboard with mounting holes”
SKU: 03MB901

Positives:
• Consistent insertion and hold.
• Integrated bus rails.
Neutral:
• Mounting holes.
• Bus rails split — no indicator.
Negatives:
• Odd bus spacing! Rails 3.6mm apart, and 7.7mm from array. So power modules won’t fit.
• Kinda pricy: $7.45US each.

BTW, I found good breadboards.

Click and Clack said one way to make drivers behave would be to mount the driver seat on the front bumper.

It’s the comparator flip. Note pin 1 and pin 7 with no bypass, vs with 10u of bypass (at chip pins):

Top = pin 3, bottom = pin 7.

Thanks! The comparators do draw a lot when they switch. But I wonder about the delay between the bump and the slope. I will compare the timing to that of pin 3.

This is what I measured:

Yes all 10 of them.

Note the waveform pic is pin 7 with pullup. I’ve found I get a clean(ish) edge from pin 3. Bonus, no longer need the pullup!

I see that I got these off Amazon so maybe you’re right…

Pin 4 is already tied high. But pin 5 is floating; maybe crosstalk there? I’ll check that.
