Batteries, Evs, and Solar
Solar and Batteries capture power autonomously. Cant do that with oil and gas as they always need to be extracted, refined, and transported. My panels make power while I drink a beer

Best part of driving electric is not having to do oil changes. #clean

As @matthannon.bsky.social has noted, there is a huge failure in articles like this to join the dots and help folks lower their costs. No talk of insulation, solar panels or the generous heat pump grant which most will be eligible for

Buy a solar panel - $150
Charge controller - $50
12v lithium battery - $200

Free power from the sun - priceless.

No one can take that power away from you.. complete freedom!

Charging keeps getting easier! Charging at home is still the easiest option. An EV driver can have a full tank every morning... do you know anyone with a gas station at their house?
Nissan EV drivers, or more specifically Ariya drivers, will be able to use Tesla’s Supercharger network starting next week

Electric cars have a $7500 tax incentive that comes off the MSRP at the point of purchase. These cars keeps getting cheaper while gas car prices keep rising. When will the economics drive you to switch?

You can hook up a panel to a battery and have power without anyones elses input. Forget utility companies and gas companies - be your own power station

Not to be left behind by CATL, BYD is rolling out Na-ion batteries for grid storage at scale.
"The world's second-largest battery maker BYD has managed to develop a sodium-ion battery pack covering all the requirements for a grid-level battery energy storage system (BESS) like long cycle life, while at the same time offering high energy density."

Storage is the fossil fuel killer. 🥷
BYD details first 2.3 MWh sodium-ion battery pack for grid-level energy storage with high energy density
Shortly after CATL detailed its second Na-ion cell generation that delivers normal discharge at extremely low temperatures, BYD is out in force with the 'world's first high-performance' sodium-ion sto...

The authors (I was not involved in the study) note that energy storage is growing rapidly and is ~100 GW in 2024 and projected to rise to ~350 GW by 2030.

I agree! Solar power is very liberating. It will be the dominate source of energy in the very near future. At the moment it’s also the cheapest form of energy on the planet.

With a solar panel, you can generate power without anyone's help. No utilities, no government, no oil companies.

Its not reasonable to own your own hydroelectric dam or coal plant, but it is possible to generate your own power with a solar array!
