In its infinite stupidity, Apple suddenly started asking for something something access something, and I reflexively clicked No. Obviously. Not in Firefox and Safari, though.
Turns out it also made browsers skip the local DNS server.
Turn back on in Settings -> Privacy and Security ->

As far as I know none of these browsers actually uses its own rendering engine - please correct me if I'm wrong.
