One of my Jades is having a white Christmas. The one right next to it is Scrooging this year. Both are over 40 years old. One or the other usually blooms after they are brought in for the winter, but this is an incredible year.

More Saturday casting. These pictures are of the Dean Winchester Amulet from Supernatural. I made hundreds of these over a 10 year period. While other versions are out there dirt cheap, I never had any prob selling out of these at $100.

Here we have a lost wax casting of an owl. Left is the wax model, hand carved and ready for investment. Right is the final product. Solid sterling silver weighing about 2 lbs. This was donated to the Wisc Public TV auction in 2014.

Saturday thread - Castings. Casting can cover a lot of different processes. Lost wax casting, organic casting, sand casting, etc. With the exception of sand casting, most cast items go through a burn-out process that eliminates the model, be it a wax model or an organic form.

This "deer bridge" sculpt features 3 life-size deer, hollow formed from 18g sheet steel. Overall measures 22 ft long by about 9 ft high in the middle. I stopped counting at 500 hours of fabrication time.
