In my first role at GDS, I was helping govt orgs 'make better use of data.' Consultants suggested we spoke to Big Banks, Telcos etc, and no surprise to @jamestplunkett.bsky.social they spent hours telling us 'legacy tech/process/silos get in the way.' we concluded it's scale, not pvt vs public...

Independent restaurants (at least in East London) have long been better value than chains. Private equity doesn't feature in a family joint serving authentic pizza/dosa/kofte/noodles - explore your high street and eat local!

To illustrate the point a pizza at Pizza Express is now £20 or you can get a rump steak at Hawksmoor for £27. The gap has really shrunk.

Specifically around casual dining, a lot have been "invested" in by Private Equity, who want their return for the pension pots they serve. Casual high street dining is now competing with quite simply better restaurants for similar price points
