The student journalists were detained in October while covering a College Park campus event featuring Israeli soldiers.
Of the 18 journalists assaulted on Jan. 6, 2021, 13 never saw charges filed.
For the remaining cases, nearly all assailants were pardoned, as were some of those charged in connection with destroying equipment.

During the Jan. 6 riots, journalists were punched, dragged down stairs, tackled, threatened and had cameras and other equipment damaged or destroyed.
Beyond the 18 assaults, tens of thousands of dollars of news equipment was destroyed on that day.
