Lazarus, Home from the War is out today! An ex-pilot with PTSD meets a Jewish neurologist who can't help him. I am now open for cross-examination.

A stack of books in front of a green and orange, somewhat floral fabric. There's an orange next to the books and an orange on the top of the stack. The book facing us is Lazarus, Home from the War, and it's sitting on Dionysus in Wisconsin (labeled "book 1"), Old Time Religion ("book 2"), and Troth ("book 3"). The words "Now Available!" have an arrow pointing to the Lazarus book.

Yes, exactly. I love series! And, despite questioning my own choices a lot, I don't have to do anything I don't want to. But I've seen Cars 2 (and 3) too many times to say all series are good... 😬

I was unaware one could do this with a chainsaw, is the thing. They never seemed like precision instruments.

This morning the 4yo asked if we could get Singin' in the Rain 2 and 3. I feel like he unwittingly put a finger on something I hate about children's media.

But I'm glad he liked it too.

I don't think I realized you could mix watercolor and acrylic like that! Interesting. I assume just watercolor is too transparent?

What type of paint do you use?

Guys who wander around the weight room in your socks...what's your plan here?

I like how I see people posting about how they go from a sketch to a finished book cover. They always skip across the part I seem to spend the most time in, which is chewing my pencils and coming up with bad ideas.

I finished this guy for the 8yo last week. He picked out all the yarn and the pattern. I...did all the crocheting.

The monster is from the Crochet Monsters book.
A blue green monster with axolotl ears and a forked tongue. It has three eyes and upper teeth. Another view of the monster.

The 4yo is a big fan. (I mean, so are the rest of us. But arguably the ratio of fandom to body mass is the greatest with him.)

The 8yo is worried our remaining dog is sad now that Maya is gone. I suggested we could take him to the dog park.

4yo: There are no people allowed in the dog park.

Me: Uh, wh—

4yo: There are no people or dogs allowed in the dog park.

My husband, hearing about this later: this is your fault.

I had it once get mad because I put "el caballo" when it wanted "la equina(?)," and then it switched every time we revisited my mistake.
pretensesoup.bsky.social
I think it went well. I don't think I've ever read fresh, unedited work for a crowd, so this was an exciting and terrifying experience for me.

Having decided to read from the new top secret project at @spacemagiccon.bsky.social tomorrow, I guess it would be super cool if I somehow came up with a title for it between now and then. So that's (checks clock) 14 hrs 15 min to figure it out.

Thank you.

She was a good dog. I know I'm not alone in observing that it is the greatest unfairness that dogs don't live forever, but man. It has been a rough few days.

But Lupton is also half my last name, so maybe it's different. I don't know how fully pseudonymous authors handle it. I guess it depends how secret you want to be.

I always sign myself E.H. Lupton (sometimes with Em in parentheses), and then if we need to exchange $$, I just put my full last name on the contract.
