Niche question for historians: does anyone have literature suggestions/ recommendations on the love letter from a historical perspective (ideally in the post war period but any period is fine!) 💌
priskakomaromi.bsky.social
thanks for reminding me of this, need to take another look at it! I felt there was a distinct lack of sexuality related to masculinity content, maybe that's why I didn't engage enough with it 😅
priskakomaromi.bsky.social
thank you, I will definitely take a look at that!

Does anyone know of this kind of book for the German and/or Central Eastern European and/or socialist context?

Can't believe I'm only seeing this book now, so many really insightful contributions in here! 🤩

V cool to see @manchesterup.bsky.social choose our volume Men and Masculinities in Modern Britain as their History OA highlight of 2024

The book came out in Jan and we've since had 21,500 downloads - way more than we hoped for @tricksterprince.bsky.social

Do you use AI translation to let students read materials that would otherwise be inaccessible (or too difficult)—if so, do you discuss the ethics of doing this (labor, inadequacy of translation, env costs, etc.) and how?

i am super biased here because i am an academic and would like to continue to be one *but* i do feel there comes a point where you have to ask yourself what the point of ‘the economy’ is if it doesn’t support education or healthcare or the arts or housing or food or water and utilities

not an original observation but i was just explaining that the UK higher ed sector is in a bad financial position to my mum (who’s lived in austria all her life) and it is actually a very strange thing to explain that the ‘education sector’ is struggling

BlueSky academics, let’s get to know each other! Quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren’t working on but keep thinking about.

1) “The Europe that Gay Porn Built, 1945-2000”

2) Britney Spear’s “work b*tch” is the lost 4th volume of Marx’s Das Kapital.

My main contexts are state socialist Hungary and Yugoslavia (from outside the region, Vietnam and Cuba), and I do women's history.
