Like 99% of people who say things like "the problem with the left today is..." are just centrists. This is shameless capitalist apologia. A very small number of people own almost everything and there are hundreds of thousands of homeless people in some of the wealthiest cities on the planet.
Tbh I think the biggest failure of the left right now is the constant need to exaggerate to straight up lie how bad things are going. Things could be better, but today’s prime age employment ratio hasn’t been this good since the 90’s, and inequality’s been falling since 2014

I just don't see the Democrats being an effective opposition party over the next four years. The leadership of the party is going to feign concern and perhaps challenge the most egregious stuff, but the party is built on a respectability politics that says looking good is more important than winning
