Altho it's been out in the world, today is the official publication day for my book!!! The title indicates it's a book about concussion and American tackle football, which is true, but really this is a book about regulated industries' use of the #ManufactureOfDoubt in ways that harm public health.

Sorry Dodgers fans I know Kershaw has had a HOF career but I don’t think trotting him out there in high pressure situations is such a great idea anymore

Just published in @amjpublichealth.bsky.social: a collective analysis of the power ecosystem that jeopardizes public health and produces inequity, titled “Why Building Power is Key to Protecting Academic Public Health and Advancing Health Equity”
We are angered and disheartened by the lack of progress our fields have made over the last 20 years and dismayed by the dismantling of health equity efforts happening in real time. In response, we are determined to reimagine academic public health and drive social change. We believe public health scholars need to share and build power with communities facing inequities now more than ever.

A study of nearly 300,000 people published today in the New England Journal of Medicine found “that last season’s 2024–2025 mRNA COVID vaccines reduced people’s risk of emergency department visits by 29 percent, their risk of hospitalizations by 39 percent and their risk of death by 64 percent.”
Annual COVID Vaccines Save Lives, New Study Shows
A new study shows that receiving an updated COVID vaccine reduced people’s risk of severe disease and death in all age groups, regardless of immunity from prior infection or vaccination

Because I teach a lot about structural violence and epistemic injustice, my learners have become interested in repair and restorative justice. I've been pleasantly surprised to see how much our short units on apology are among the most popular. This paper will help!! 🙏🏻
