I may have to postpone writing the next chapters of my book to make time to fully develop these ideas. More delays. It's always something, but might as well be thorough! As a bonus it's a solid excuse to add watching more movies and TV to my research schedule, since it's been fruitful so far!

"Not working as well", and "less efficient", are two separate metrics. With a tool that's constantly getting more efficient, it can overtake the old tool eventually. There are a lot of examples of that pattern: solar energy, batteries, data transfer over the Internet instead of sneakernet, etc

A large portion of the book I'm currently doing research for is dedicated to imagining some of those paths. Hopefully I can get it released before the future catches up and I have to pivot to writing a history book!

I think there is a lot to learn from the neurodiverse in that field about how different ways to process emotions can still least to valid and useful results. The trouble becomes about translation and integration, rather than identifying the emotion itself. Very interesting stuff.
