Really, “just dicking around” and rather proud of it. Artist who did graphic design for money, now making art again and bringing in no money. Old. Left-liberal politics, amateur telescope maker, pretty decent cook.
Take care of yourself, my internet friend.

I am really sad to hear this.

EST was fucking evil, and I have very good reason, which for the sake of some close relatives I’d better not elaborate on, why I say that. But straight-up murderous evil.

and it’s not gold-plated.

true for me, too.

Oh, man, me too. Here’s hoping we both feel better soon.

“The Bridge over the River Kwai” and I don’t remember enough about it to have a clue

Does Boston have a thing for slightly eccentric radio hosts? I never heard Laquidara from up here but I have (fond) memories of Robert J. Lurtzema and his morning classical music show. I kind of miss old-style public radio.

I immediately thought “oh thank god” and then opened replies and that seems like a pretty common reaction. Somehow that makes me feel slightly better.

I think a bunch of the cult are just evil (or deluded) people, which isn’t the same thing as narcissism. But Trump seems clearly (to me and some more qualified folks I’ve read) a person with narcissistic personality disorder. And such people hate themselves.

Narcissists are constantly on stage playing to the only audience that matters to them—themselves. Think of the archetype—Narcissus admiring at his own reflection. The performance can never be good enough. So yeah, they all despise themselves.

I sorta think the best online experience may be like mine, where I don’t aspire to punditry really and only post a few times a day at most, just random shit that crosses what’s left of my mind.

ditto except for the cigs, and coffee instead of coke, and my typewriter was the Sears knockoff. It was electric except you had to manually return the carriage.

I cannot but remember the my high-school classmate in Springfield, VT, who replied, with considerable disdain, when I told him I had been accepted at UVM, that I would be going to “JewVM.”

(there were virtually no Jews in Springfield, VT)

AFAICT, AI does not have ideas. It does not have imagination, which is even more important. It has statistical probabilities, which are clearly not the same thing.

I think I may have been the first graphic designer in Burlington VT who owned a fax machine, for which I insanely paid $1200 (IIRC) for, from some grey market source. It was actually useful for a year or two.
