Initially the benefits of the IT revolution were reasonably widely dispersed, but as the 2000s progressed, competition decreased and they began to be increasingly captured by a handful of huge tech firms, exactly as economic theory would predict. And those tech firms were all based in the US

Any state which finds itself incapable of managing a project as basic as rolling out a 20th century tech between its biggest cities needs to ask itself some profound questions about what hope it has of managing the technologies of the 21st.
