Chicagoan (formerly LA, SF, NYC, and also Chicago). Indie software engineer building a recommender system (not like that) for music.
I did this and I think I was just too young to appreciate it. I had quail and foxes in my yard, the Pacific Ocean a block away, wild blackberries, next level natural beauty, a wood stove, farm fresh veggies on the honor system, etc. It's def possible and feels a little unreal & harder to do now.

Another researcher is doing something similar with wolves. It’s really fascinating.
Could tech help us translate wolf howls?
Computational linguist Jeff Reed figured out how to eavesdrop on wolves in the wild. But he needed help from AI to separate the signal from the noise, and start to decode what each howl means.

It's still too expensive for mere mortals. I have been following Willison's GitHub and it looks like anything he does with Claude exists in a repo that is completely separate from prod.

These seem like overly broad permissions to grant in the authorization flow unless I am missing something about how the app works. Shouldn't it just need read-only access?
