One of those things that’s been a complete failure of media is on disclosing the ties Vance has to so many folks with outright and open nazi sentiment. It is baffling to me how it isn’t a story, but I guess it’s the same old same old “if we describe them as we are we sound biased”

It’s just absurd. The standard of a presidential scandal is now somehow completely unreachable if “this president who grabs women and leers at teen pageants was best friends with a notorious sex trafficker for years and visited his evil island many times” is nothing. Obama had to drop his pastor

I totally get that reasoning but I think the problem is that that algo obliterates any odds of meaningfully spreading those ideas, but being on there at all legitimizes it as a fair public square in a way that it is not. Seems better to me to spread the word it’s not worth being on there at all.

I agree with the sentiment that Twitter has to go and everyone should boycott it but it’s definitely a task- imo I see it on just about everyone’s phones and especially and surprisingly with younger coworkers or students I work with

I think one thing to remember is that we get a little caught up in these “board game” mechanics of strict rules and forget that history is more than just titles. Power is a lot more fluid than jus the title of the presidency—a vp-turned-prez of an ousted prez is going to start off incredibly weak

Right like it would be one thing if there were like 1 or 2 semi independent types but clearly the party is incapable of whipping its own members who are in constant open revolt helping out Trump’s agenda, if it’s not in the realm of suspect it’s at the very least worth questioning and criticizing

I think one thing ppl forget about the republican elects is the vast majority of them are now post Trump figures; if he can transform a party over a few election cycles we can too, it’s time to primary pretty much across the board

I think the democrats are more to blame than some random bluesky user. I get this has been the party line for a minute and I think it can make sense contextually but at a certain point you can’t keep saying “these guys are evil fascists!” And then rubber stamp their agenda like you never said that

Been watching a lot of action movies from the past 20 yrs lately and it’s fascinating seeing the convergent evolution between cable news and movies, like both literally learn from and borrow from each other and you can see how much of that muddling between fact and fiction is causing all of this
