Most weak-kneed phrase in journalism right now?

You'd think the President calling for the execution of political opponents would warrant some type of news alert.

Three questions:
1. Is who politicians follow online newsworthy?
2. Is the vice-president more important than a primary candidate to be junior Senator from Texas?
3. If the answer is yes to the first two, why isn’t Axios doing a fuck ton of stories about who JD Vance is following?

James Talarico, a Texas Democrat running for U.S. Senate who has put his faith at the forefront of his campaign, follows several adult film performers, escorts and OnlyFans models on Instagram, according to an Axios review.
Faith-forward Texas Senate candidate follows porn actors, escorts online
James Talarico has become a sensation in Texas politics by talking about how his Christianity is the basis for his progressive politics.

yes I am a Spanberger-Mamdani democrat and we are the future
the future of the democratic party is a coalition of the wokest people on tumblr and absolutely dead-eyed pursuers of the national interest and the maximization of GDP
funny that the two groups in the political class who have been the least enthusiastic about trump term 2 are like neocon blob guys and economists

serious note: they're gonna try 5x harder to sabotage the midterms after tonight and we're gonna have to organize on a literally historic scale to stop them
really obvious now why trump and the republican party have been working so hard to prevent fair elections lol they know

This is why Platner should drop out. He should make a statement about why he’s an imperfect candidate and basically say he thinks that the momentum he experienced is a sign of what an American electorate wants and offer that someone else in the primary who is a better candidate carry that onward.
Putting a Democrat with a Nazi tattoo in the Senate normalizes Naziism in our federal politics for a long ass time.

All these recent stories about secret Nazi group chats? Anytime that happens going forward will be met with "But Platner."

It's not a purity test. Think through the consequences.

If the protests weren't happening, it would be too easy for people to dismiss the rise of fascism as normal. The question would be "where are the protests in the streets?" If nothing else, protests give others some comfort they're not alone.

Heh, amateur. You need Burner phones in Faraday bags. Drone recon w/ thermal overlay. Exfil routes pre-mapped. Comms on encrypted freq. Full MOPP gear for CBRN threats. Defensible rally points with snipers. Surgeons and fake passports (with new face) ready. Then; *maybe* you can attend a protest.
Actual advice for (US) No Kings:

No names, no phones, black clothes you've never worn before, masks, gloves, good shoes, eye protection, water...

Utilise the military guys in your ranks. Give them radios that connect with people flying drones above the rally. Co-ordinate movements accordingly.

very funny that JD Vance has so little to do with his time that he goes on podcasts to defend 30-year-old men for saying how much they love Hitler
JD Vance dismisses Young Republicans who in a group chat said "I love Hitler" and joked about slavery and rape as "a bunch of kids" who "told stupid jokes" and adds that "most of the stupid things I did when I was a teenager and young adult, they're not on the internet."

Look. Invading our own country is about as straightforward a case as you can have for impeachment. The GOP abandoning the Constitution is kind of the only story there is and it gets no coverage.
Guys. I just had a crazy idea. What if the President DIDN’T deploy troops in American cities. Just a thought. Have we tried that before?

Presidential systems, often ones explicitly modeled on ours, have failed in ~every country that’s tried them other than here, because of basically this—the Presidency absorbs the powers of the legislature, often for what seem like good reasons, until you have a President that’s unrestrained.

This is obviously monstrous but it also makes me think that the big Gathering of the Generals thing he's doing is going to be some dumb bullshit
The MAGA monocultural revolution is so thorough that Hegseth made it a priority to honor soldiers who carried out war crimes in 1890.

Your reminder that they cannot arrest millions of people no matter how hard they try. They lack the infrastructure, they lack the personnel, and the economy would straight-up collapse

They are going to try to scare us by making examples out of a few people, and our job is to not fall for it

Gov Pritzker: One of the reasons Trump wants to send troops into American cities is because he wants to be able to take control of the 2026 elections. If it becomes a norm for people, then it won't be abnormal to have troops at the ballot boxes. It's about intimidating people from going to the polls
