3/x…yet entirely necessary. While it is appropriate to take a day to give thanks and recognize the good things in our lives, doing so should not reinforce a lie that whitewashes our country’s origin story in an attempt to absolve my ancestors of wrongdoing….

2/x…of their languages and culture which along with the subjugation of Indigenous people has continued throughout our history (forced removal, boarding schools, forced sterilizations, shrinking reservations, environmental racism) and goes on yet today.Reparations and land back programs are necessary

4/x…So today I give thanks for my family and friends and the life we share, I do so with eyes open to the context in which we celebrate, and recognize that so much of what we have stems from white privilege and wealth that has accumulated over generations due to opportunities…

So awful and so true! We don’t all hold his beliefs and values. Some of us believe in the constitution, care about other people including our immigrants and marginalized communities and wish this nightmare would end!
