It is thought that the word “Veritas” (meaning "true") was shortened to the letter “V”. This abbreviation was used to indicate true, yes, or confirmed regarding verification of items on a list. Over time its design began to change.

While the use and widespread understanding of this symbol within popular culture appears to be modern, (especially due to its incorporation into computer operating systems) it is interesting to note that the symbol may have been created sometime during the Roman Empire.

‘right or wrong’, ‘on or off’, ‘complete or incomplete’. The check mark is immediately recognizable as a predominantly affirmative symbol because of its instant and simplistic composition.

Large-scale public commissions include the Triangeln Railway Station (2010) in central Malmö, Sweden, and the Nye Akershus Hospital (2008) Norway. In 2010, Klingberg received the Edstrandska Foundation Award, a five-year working grant from The Swedish Visual Arts Fund.
