Originally designed by Peter Molyneux & developed by Bullfrog Productions, Populous is one my favorite games. Each game is unique in how you grow followers/mana & attack the enemy. The enemy AI attacks with disasters like floods & volcanoes. Lots of planning and real-time action. PC & mouse a must.

I played this amazingly difficult and realistic submarine sim on the IBM PCJr. I ran several missions, but the enemy was merciless coming after me. I highly recommend it as a challenge.

Star Fleet Battles was a great strategy game playing as the Alliance, exploring space & completing missions. For the sequel take command of the invading Krellan fleet, send probes to find lucrative star systems & invade Alliance space, subdue planets, beam troops aboard enemy ships. v2 now on Steam

Getting ready for the Texas-Steelers game... adding a new lime squeezer to the margarita ritual.

I got the PlayStation shot glass at the E3 where the original PSX was released. After my 5th trip through the Sony booth, the booth ladies told me no more promotional shot glasses.

I just finished decorating the gumdrop tree. Each gumdrop comes with a wish for the new year. No limits... It's magical and delicious.

Excellent! I finished the Cool Whip from Thanksgiving. Now I have a nice container for leftovers!

And sadly... a disappointment for anyone raiding the refrigerator looking for actual Cool Whip.

I'm considering whether to cancel my long-held #Yahoo email account, due to the new use of AI.

Look at the items under 6b & 6c for AI. Seems like anything I put into a (private?) Yahoo email will be consumed by their AI and they have right to republish it.

I love playing Joust with (against?) my friends on the PC with MAME using the XArcade dual joystick.

Ahh, so dusty, I need to clean up!

After several hundred tries, I FINALLY beat level 75 "Strange Reflections" in Icebreaker2 for 3DO on Insane difficulty level.

My wife is glad she will never again have to watch me playing THAT level on repeat.

@andrewlooney.bsky.social the quest continues to beat all Icebreaker2 levels! 11 to go!

A review of SC1 would be a nice prequel retrospective for your SC2 retrospective. SC1 is more direct strategy with resource building & starship fleet management as you navigate a rotating 3D nebula of stars, which can have mines, bases, & precursor ship upgrades. I liken it to Chess with spaceships.

Two of a Kind: Olivia Newton John & John Travolta.

When God comes back from vacation & decides to flood the world & start over, a group of Angels has to prove humankind is worth saving, using Travolta as an example--trouble is, the mob is after him for money he borrowed to invent edible sunglasses

I like Club Paradise. Great cast: Robin Williams, Peter O'Toole, Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, Brian Doyle-Murray, Twiggy. It has sweet Reggae music & a nice message about standing up to developers coming to take everything, including the small resort Robin Williams just bought into, Club Paradise.

My fav replay game is Icebreaker (3DO), which has 150 levels. I can play a level & win in a 15-min session, or lose repeatedly in seconds.

I've played it for decades trying to beat all levels & Icebreaker2's 118 levels.

I like games that you can dip into for short periods & still enjoy long term.

Star Control 1: Sega Genesis. 3D rotating stargrid to explore--establish mines & colonies to gain resources to buy ships to fight the other side (play as Alliance or as Hierarchy)

When the two enemies meet, 2D action space battle ensues. Game balance for the various ships & weaponry was perfect.

Ultima II level up strategy. Arriving in the circular Time of Legends continent, you are in an area guarded by mountains & enemies can't get to you. I left the game on overnight so high-level enemies kept spawning & then I just blew them away as they lined up single file to enter the protected area.

Warlords is a fun 1-4-player game on the Atari 2600. I also enjoyed playing it in a team format 2 castles vs 2 castles (we partnered players on opposite corners of the screen. The computer intelligence was good enough to make it enjoyable 1-player, but it's always better vs. one or more humans.

Life Force, also by Konami, was a great side-scrolling space shooter. Both Contra and Life Force were great 2-player games (and much more difficult if you play solo).

Today I finally beat level 76 - Pit of Ichor for #3DO game Icebreaker by @andrewlooney.bsky.social (also maker of the FLUXX card games)

I'm trying to beat all 150 levels of Icebreaker on INSANE difficultly level. Here's my level map. I am not sure the remaining levels can be beaten.

Wasn't that great?!
(spoiler, Herzog Zwei was a great game and still rocks hard)

Transforming robot/airship that you use to deploy resources you build at your base for defensive positions and offense? Count me in. Great as a 1-Player game and 2-Player. I love the diversity of the battlefield maps.
