sometimes I’m very proud to see people using Big Shoulders the way I envisioned

and if anyone thinks I’m overreacting, you should have seen how he got treated by cops and airport security after 9/11 simply because he’s racially and culturally ambiguous

it’s cute that chicago is clowning on ICE but my husband is very not caucasian looking and I kind of catastrophe-spiraled last night in case this happens

like what lawyers do I know, who in my life is useless in a crisis, what happens if I can’t find him, what if his phone’s taken etc

contractor came to talk about making our stairwell better and part of that was building a little hiding nook, next to a step with unused space, for the cats to reach out and grab ankles or whatever

it’s why I keep hiring the guy

five watermelon sour patch kids and an almond snickers for dinner so I couldn’t win any more if I tried good night

honestly I’m just watching this in the same mindset I watched Revenge back in 2011 it’s better that way

oh I love a paulcast

I’d be so mad at my sister if I had to get out my good hair unannounced then get on camera and state the date like I’m in a hostage video

having to defuse a public situation your sibling created on your behalf is also a core Appalachian trait

BREAKING

In a new video, Dolly Parton, the Queen of America, says she’s going to be ok.

I’m Appalachian so I can say this and you can’t

being dramatic, then getting anxious that people are responding to your drama, is such an Appalachian core trait

Dolly Parton’s sister says she didn’t mean to scare people by asking for prayers for the singer.

@chrissayshi.bsky.social @jonaldric.bsky.social I remembered a Glyphs trick that helps with weird curves

grab a curve point and hold down option, then move it

Glyphs will move the curve point but not the handles on either side, which lets you balance the curve between the handles

like so

the last time I heard anything about Zayn Malik was years ago when One Directioners were editing his Wikipedia to say he’d left One Direction to join ISIS, so that was a fun memory to revisit

Jisoo & Zayn Malik will release their collaboration ‘Eyes Closed’ this Friday.

no I get it, and practice is good to figure out what questions to ask the next time you have to do it

S is usually a hard letter for everyone because the outside path becomes the inside path in the middle, so it kinda throws all your drawing strategies out the window
puddleoops.com
I just looked back at your initial S and your serif directions are already defined nicely in G and C

make the S serifs at or almost at the same angle

I like to look for shortcuts in places that they're already working, G and C look great

and your O's curves can help inform S's shape and roundness
puddleoops.com
s is so easy for me now

K and k are horrific to make

there's all these weird diagonals that need to go in slightly different directions

yet they must appear to be centered

the K in the chicago fonts nearly ruined me
puddleoops.com
also don't leave your S serifs until later, figure those out now

you need to decide which way they're pointing like so, that takes up space inside the letter and it fucking sucks to fix later
puddleoops.com
if you delete those later, Glyphs will try to keep the shape the same as your drawing by compensating the remaining points
puddleoops.com
what's wrong with yours: it needs to have a smaller bowl on top to appear even, yours is on the bottom

literally turn it 180° and it's much better

add points in the center like I did in the first image and it's MUCH easier to make that center piece start to work
puddleoops.com
massage and contort that single path in the middle into a decent shape

it's not uncommon for this to take a couple of days

then expand your path to inside and outside paths so you can touch the inner and outer contour independently
puddleoops.com
figure out a stroke width for the letter and Glyphs will display that

of note, lowercase s can have a slightly-thinner stroke width than the rest of thr alphabet because you're stuffing three lines in a space where everything esle has two

so we lighten to keep it from being too dense
puddleoops.com
option-click in the middle of each path segment to make its curve handles appear

then select all the points and hit the return key to turn them into curves
