The Importance of Ranked-Choice Voting in Reducing Harmful Extremism

For my 50th b'day I made an autobiography just for me (2/3 photos). I made an appendix of year-by-year entertainment that I'm sharing here though... Generally I think our culture drastically over-values entertainment, but it is useful for jogging memory & getting a feel for a year. 3 in comment.

Happy #caturday , hope your cat isn't as much of a turd as mine is.

Wish I'd filmed it... Just saw a rabbit use the crosswalk to cross the street!

I've already spent $10k on editors, cover designers, etc. for my #novel, & made a miniscule fraction in sales, so despite all the problems of #AI, yes I do plan to submit for Apple's free AI #audiobook narration. Maybe later I'll self-record a version, w/ wife who was voice of 90s precursor to Siri.

We've gone from Reagan (R) and the "I don't recall" defense at Iran Contra hearings, to Trump & Friends (R) "I don't know because I never bothered to learn the laws of the land even though that's my job". I think (R) means " regression".

When extreme liberals go too far (like $180,000 for street signs in a Native American language), at least their intentions are usually good & hearts usually in the right places. Can't say the same for extreme conservatives (example: basically everything they do, pick anything from Trump/Bush admins)

A game show where billionaires compete to show empathy. The winner gets to keep their money, losers have to donate 95% to charity chosen by viewers.

It never ceases to amaze me how the "liberal" media grades politicians from different parties by completely different scales. One gets praised if they manage to not start a nuclear war, another gets admonished for wearing an untraditional color of suit.

BRAND NEW VIDEO! This one's been in the works for a while: a true deep-dive into space politics, focussing on the human side because why are we still trying to replicate Apollo? It's nearly two hours long. Enjoy!

Dear President Trump, I am a white African prince seeking asylum. I will give you $5 million dollars in exchange for this asylum, but in order for me to access my funds I'll just need you to wire me a temporary $1 million.

I like to re-use my coffee mug over and over for days on end, pouring fresh coffee on the dried crust of old. My wife decides when I'm done re-using a mug (leaving it soaking in the sink for me to wash). We're the complete opposite w/ the if-it's-yellow-let-it-mellow policy though. I'm the flusher.

It is no fun being at a town hall where you're not allowed to get up to a microphone to say anything, even when you have an important perspective to add that no one else has mentioned yet, because a few people are hogging the microphone.

Washington DC is now a daily congregation of the type of person who would, with a sadistic glee, chop down a famous historic tree, damage a historic rock formation, or vandalize a 700 yr old famous statue. All the EQ of a toddler throwing a tantrum because a gumball machine gave them green not blue.

Gemini is extremely verbose and won't let me get a word in edgewise.

In my novel I propose that the partitioning of the USA by political ideology would ultimately result in long-term harm to society, but right now in real life I'm feeling pretty pro-partitioning.

"basket" of deplorables was a terrible slip up by @hillaryclinton.bsky.social... Way too small of a vessel ... Dumpster of diplorables? Grand Canyon full of deplorables?

Sketch to image artwork inspired by conservatives who cherry-pick a crime in the news and incorrectly extrapolate it into full blown paranoia that the crime is everywhere.

The quantity midlife-crisis-mobile sports cars out on Mother's Day today has been off the charts. Is mom impressed?

I've always loved Rachel @maddow.msnbc.com & right now I'm really appreciating that she has a doctorate but doesn't put a title in her social media username. Dr, phD, or similar titles here seems so pretentious. This isn't LinkedIn. This isn't a professional networking site. Just be a coequal human.

Act local... Just sent this to the mayor of my city asking for an action plan to protect residents if #ICE agents or ICE-imposters (since they typically aren't properly identified) start grabbing residents off the streets.

There are many types of #change: change to improve things, change for the sake of change, change to provide evidence of work done to justify one's job, change to make things worse. Over the last 20 years or so, I've been witnessing a lot of change that isn't the improvement kind. Examples:... 🧵

We know who the boss shmucks giving the orders are, but who are the ICE agents saying "Yes, boss, sure I'll illegally kidnap people for you"? If pressure from the top down isn't working, maybe it's time to also try from the bottom up.

There are a lot of unused spaces perfect for capturing renewable energy. Love that this one is starting to be tested.
