Another perspective: "don't let perfection be the enemy of good" (& everyone has a different idea of what perfection even is, & living in a functional society means some compromise for the greater good). Life under Kamala would have been good, not evil, & she'd have been more open to far left ideas.

In a 1st-past-post system, if a radical extremist leftist was up against Trump, I'd suck it up & vote radical extremist leftist rather than hand it to Trump. What I really want is ranked-choice voting, so we can all vote our conscience, but have our lesser-evil 2nd/3rd choices be what stops a Trump.

Appropriate cartoon. Rational adult calmly talking to imature bratty kid throwing tantrum because he didn't get his exact way & can't get along w/ anyone so best friend is imaginary. Thanks for the vomit pizza, now we all get to starve to death. We would pay for you, just wanted the anti-vomit vote.

Fight for Ranked-Choice Voting FIRST, then you can vote for spoilers all you want

If I'm in a big group ordering 1 pizza, and I really really want pepperoni & sausage, but voting is 1st-past-post & leading options clearly either sausage & onion, or vomit pizza, you bet I'm going to be unhappy w/ BOTH vomit voters and abstainers or spoiler vegetarian voters if vomit pizza wins.

Ranked-Choice Voting is the single most critical first step for improving our political system... Would help in solving the problem noted in previous post.

Yes ... Exactly why I think Ranked-Choice Voting is the single most critical first step for improving our political system.

We lost because R's fall in line & vote for their tribe no matter how awful their candidate, but Dems are like herding cats & quickly shoot themselves in foot (abstain or vote for spoiler) if theirs isn't vocal enough on any of 100 pet issues, even when lesser of 2 evils obviously best to vote for.

This post is causing anger to resurface at cable tv channels The Learning Channel and the Discovery Channel for their enshittification 25+/- years ago.

If he's anything like his father, he would have flunked out... Imagine Trump's anger then!

Having POTUS say government is bad ("The nine most terrifying words in the English language...") possibly the most (pre-Trump) irresponsible, untrue, & harmful to our country thing a POTUS has ever said, so to answer your Q: YES!

Somebody keeps voting for them.

Same, except I lost most of my hope during the beginning of the pandemic when I had to worry about my immune compromised wife and, even pre-vaccine, people were refusing the simple life-saving courtesy of wearing a fucking mask in public indoor spaces.

As cruel as it sounds, if Dems did start a government substitute support network, I think they'd be better saying they only have enough $ for registered Dems. Trumpers would take $ & still vote Trump. They only learn empathy through experience, & need to feel the pain of no gov support to value it.

And reducing transmission rates and creating herd immunity to protect people who are immune compromised and who might die if they catch it ... It isn't always about you.
May 22, 2025 at 10:28 AM
My thoughts exactly. Throw in a few token white people so they can claim they aren't racist.
