skyward sword cherry-picked all the worst elements of the 3d zelda tradition to make one bad game and the game they made in response to its reception took all the wrong lessons from its failure

this is fairly common for nintendo actually. learning the wrong lessons from a game's failure or success

there's some comedy in invoking an incorrect longer version of someone's name in a sort of mock 'calling you by your full legal' way but i typically 'lengthen' it to the name of a location or item like turning 'izzy' into 'ismalia' or 'natalie' into 'national geographic'

as someone with a pain disease i agree wholly

inflicting my whole arm from wrist to shoulder with flaming agony just to beat the cpus at pokey pummel is not my idea of a good time

phantom hourglass may have given us linebeck's theme (best song in the franchise) but it otherwise has the worst ost of any zelda so this pull is really funny

spirit tracks needs its ost put up badly, that game's ost is the exact opposite, sleeper hit top 3 zelda osts for sure

weirdly effective at setting the stage for a climax considering its one of the most baby games ninty's ever made

this is the distinction between melee's ost and modern smash's to me

melee has a few tracks based on its main lietmotif but also several wholly original tracks, a couple based instead on the opening theme, and even a theme derived from smash 64's credits theme. then brawl onwards its just one song

this culminates in a heavily modded kh3 that we act like is standard and normal despite riku being the protagonist and donald duck wearing supreme drip

the olympus colosseum mod is played to completion as if it was vanilla content

despite this, we do not play re:mind for some reason

we end up doing both versions of CoM and even a thorough playthrough of ReCoded but Dream Drop is never played nor mentioned, with Epic Mickey taking its place

the kh2 playthrough is a standard critical mode run except us entering the 100 acre wood cuts to Piglet's Big Game which we treat as normal

i have yet to encounter someone who has anything negative to say about re4

the demo turned me away so sharply that i just booted the og again instead, it so thoroughly missed the point of what made re4 good

what i find odd about them commenting on the ost is it doesn't seem particularly cutesier than contemporary snes nintendo games of the time

nevermind that it was mostly unchanged in localization anyway

twee means 'cutesy' in a sort of derogatory 'for little girls' sort of way, while naff is pretty analogous to 'wack' in this context

so basically they were calling panel de pon's base theming wack shit for baby children. ig cuz fairy-themed media is oft associated with little girls in the west.
