If I were in charge I would start by making it impossible to have an 80% white school in an 80% black county.

For those of you who think your Spanish is better after a few shots of tequila, I’m here to tell you: it’s true. It’s all true. All of it.

I don’t think any of you people care but I am really enjoying the show “Severence” on the streaming TV channel named after the Beatles record company. So incredibly strange and yet so strangely relatable. A dark satire of the modern workplace and the disingenuous platitudes that come with it.

What is political about asking the powerful to show mercy to the weak? That’s the core of Christian faith. We are called to show mercy as we have been shown by a merciful God.
The bishop asked for compassion and mercy. Apparently, the Christian nationalist speaker of the House would rather lie and bow to Trump than support compassion & mercy.

Joined a yoga studio. First class I attended was at 6:00 AM. Lovely space, old church, hardwood floors. Leaving at dawn I noticed this sign and in my haste thought it said same MEAT. That’s some hardcore shit right there I thought. Next day I got another look. OK that makes more sense.

In spoken English, the words “quote” and “unquote” should bracket the words for which the speaker is intending to indicate quotation marks. If you smash them together and continue speaking, you sacrifice precision and clarity. This is an important issue and I feel alone in my advocacy.

Punk Rock Landscaper taking a break

I try to come across as pretty laid back. But if you have experienced the hyperactive, smarty pants side of me, I blame the fact that I listened to the first 3 Oingo Boingo albums - Only a Lad (1981), Nothing to Fear (1982), and the masterpiece Good for Your Soul (1983) WAY TOO MUCH in high school.

Another great dusty gem from the sixties. Some high energy tracks for when you start lagging from the stress. Enjoy!

My search for new Christmas music continues. This 1966 album from Loretta Lynn has some nuggets, including a sweet and lovely “Away in a Manger”.

Specific Epithets. Not a great name for a band, but a great name for an album. The tracks titles all start with lower case letters. rubrum, virginiana, siphilitica, hirsutus…

Experts say you should not eat your lunch at your work desk. Lunch break is a special time, move to a different setting to signal to your brain that you are taking a break. That’s why I usually pick a coworker’s desk for my noonday meal.

Punk Rock Landscaping is not sloppy. Were The Clash sloppy? The Ramones? They were precise and to the point. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

Three things that drive landscape design: 1: the “genius of the place,”limitations and opportunities 2: the client’s wants, or problem statement 3: budget, or available resources. I use knowledge and experience to solve puzzles within that framework. Punk rock rejects self-indulgent guitar solos.

My punk rock ethos: Do it yourself if you can. Get to the point. Avoid excessive ornamentation. If someone falls down, help them up. Stick with what works but don't get stuck in a rut. Comfort the afflicted. Afflict the comfortable.
