The Trump administration instructed organizations in other countries to stop disbursing HIV medications purchased with U.S. aid, even if the drugs have already been obtained and are sitting in local clinics.

the reason this is important is that Trump has sold his re-election as proof that he is a god-king above all consequence who can do anything he wants

already losing two nominations proves that is not true, and the sooner we can puncture that narrative and brand him a hubristic failure the better
Normally, a president-elect having one major nominee withdraw before confirmation hearings even begin and several more seemingly about to follow suit would be a pretty big deal.

We’d get headlines about a troubled transition, how the incoming administration was not ready for prime time, etc.
listen, the president losing his first choice pick to be secretary of defense less than a month after announcing him is an unambiguous defeat, just like losing his first choice pick to be AG was

Six decades later, Star Trek may still be the only franchise based on the ideas that diversity is strength, justice is the measure of civilization, bounty is to be shared, peace is worth the price, and all these things can be achieved.

We need more shows that look ahead and find goodness.

Very good essay

The best analogy for dogs and the “risk” they pose to the City: Cars

Dogs, like cars, are good and even *necessary* for some people. The problem is with *unregulated* ownership by broader public … which then insists on the urban environment be molded to their particular preferences
I've been afraid to write this exact piece for months but I'm just going to say it: people are getting collectively fed up with the antisocial behavior of (some) dog owners. www.cartoonshateher.com/p/the-vibe-s...

No, I think this is absolutely not true. TikTok is UNIQUELY bad for informing people, uniquely dangerous
Not so bad when you put it that way - TikTok is worse than reading but better than tv in terms of informing the viewer

I'm really glad women's soccer in the US is growing so quickly now. The NWSL Championship on big CBS in prime time on a Saturday night is crazy!

This is what womens sports deserve in this country.

We’re going to hear lots of stories about which people, policies and rhetoric are to blame for the Democrats’ defeat.

Some of those stories may even be true!

But an underrated factor is that 2024 was an absolutely horrendous year for incumbents around the world 👇

Last night's Oscars were a good show, mostly I think because it was a good movie year. But today I am still terribly sad, because now the purge of Anything Old is complete. They didn't even show CLIPS of the Honorary Oscars. They didn't say the NAMES.
