I always have mixed feelings at this point.

On the one hand, it's a massive milestone in the whole process. 💥
On the other, now it's the mixing and mastering that I'm still not very confident at. 😬

On an album with 50 minutes of instrumental music... is it acceptable to have a song?

The instrumental music is prog rock or straight rock and the song has the same instrumentation as the other tracks.

But then again... it's a song, is it out of place?
(for context, this is for my next album)

Today I've been rerecording a first demo of a track I actually wrote 10 years ago when my late wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It's disjointed and jarring in places but has this beautiful "pastoral" section in the middle...

Might be on my next album...

I create music in a genre my dear follower described as “dark experimental.” Interestingly, though, what I listen to most in daily life is relaxation music, something completely different from what I make myself. I love that kind of cross-genre dialogue, and it’s something I truly enjoy.

I should maybe add the caveat that I know "hearing" isn't the same as "choosing to listen to" but I do enjoy the mainstream radio output and sing/rap along with it when the family put it on as background to our activities.
