we shouldn’t divide our cities like TV dinners with zoning. we should plan cities like salads and mix everything up
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
I should clarify, 2 new* stations downtown. The rest are connections and additions to existing stations.

Why isn’t this thing actually going into SLU too?
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
Yeah this also harps on another Seattle thing. We don’t actually like anyone using our parks that’s why they are all nature sanctuaries with a bench.
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
The ICE facility is in Tacoma, a more red area. They already told Trump this that’s why they aren’t coming. Harrell is either goading the president to come fight or he knows Trump has no grounds to come so he’s shadow boxing nobody

Well we have enough dog parks now so maybe we leave those and stop building them and instead build human recreation parks?
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
And where are the basketball courts, mini soccer pitches, and anything for recreation? Dog parks snell like urine and are not for people living downtown
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
Yet another example that downtown never builds anything for kids. We have more dog parks than anything. What about a playground? There should be 20 big playgrounds downtown

"We're reinventing downtown" with "experiential activity" like "music, dog parks, day care, art, buskers, culture." Plus housing on top of the Triple Door. The new comp plan "cuts through red tape" to improve downtown, he says. (They haven't passed that part?)

She will deform her face like all the other freaks pandering for his attention
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
So some small niche power trip group? I agree it’ll probably not differ or break from their regulations but it’s funny how a small group can oppose something when everyone else supports it and still get their way. That’s actually the DNA of the west coast actually

Lets not lose sight of the point

Tie 100% of this funding to the police and say Greg Abbot Defunded the Police
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
It should be cut and cover or expand WT. Everything else is too expensive

I have literally seen people in manhattan basically say this. Only they define it as “lower manhattan”
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
Whats he doing with her baby sitting?
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
There are people who also say this literally in manhattan. “Not this part”
pushtheneedle.bsky.social
Its also the fuel to letting these rotting tubs of mayonnaise like our president justify troops in our cities

How jealous is Chris Rufo right now. Just foaming at the mouth with rage

Whats funny is the whole “stick to sports” from the antifacist protests in soccer when the biggest rivalry in the sport (barca vs Madrid) is quite literally born out of it. The stadium was the only place protected from political speech arrest. So of course when the kings team came it got wild

It’s time to get creative

I just can't get over the differences in scale between Ballard Link's Westlake Station as proposed and the original Westlake Station, off to the left.
Ballard Link's Westlake has two separate entrances underneath separate buildings, with one showing a long tunnel to get to the train guideway. They are at least five stories deeper than the original Westlake, which is tiny and only around 10-15% of the size

And avoids all the underground garages

Bruce Harrell's campaign has decided to start calling Katie Wilson a quitter because she dropped out of Oxford six weeks before graduating.
I was the first person in my family to graduate from college. My parents, hard-working city employees, overcame racial bias and financial hardship to create a better life for my brother and me, just as Joanne and I have done for our children.

For my family, like most Americans, a college education isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s a gateway to financial stability, opportunity, and family pride.

So I was shocked — but hardly surprised — to read in The Seattle Times that my opponent dropped out of Oxford just weeks before graduation because she was turned off by “careerism.”

As the Times notes, her story reflects “no small amount of privilege.”

In Seattle, we celebrate educational advancement and career opportunities. This program is rooted in an initiative I started while on our City Council for South Seattle youth from disadvantaged communities–the kind of kids whose families work hard to send their children to local college, let alone Oxford–and these kids don’t quit to make a political statement because they value the opportunity.

When things get tough in our city, or when forced to compromise, will Katie quit and walk away?

At a time when Trump is threatening violence in our cities, and our economy is fragile, we need a Mayor who understands and prioritizes the challenges facing our families, and who will fight for our future.

I’ve never taken access to education or opportunity for granted, and I’ll never quit on Seattle.

She proposed scrapping the 2nd downtown tunnel for ballard and using an expanded existing tunnel to accommodate. It would save 8-10B. I think it’s a good idea

The truth is streets are not supposed to be “complete”. The success of streets that serve different purposes are always incomplete.

A quality neighborhood urban street has no real parking, maybe 1 or 2 lanes for cars, and the best ones have no cars at all. The best solution is incomplete.

my unpopular urbanist take is 'complete streets' in urban areas are a complete failure - on safe streets, policy/governance, and climate

you cannot accommodate all modes and get positive outcomes related to climate, mobility, safe streets, and public health.
davidzipper.bsky.social
My unpopular urbanist opinion is that big, hyperfast two-wheelers are a menace and should be banned from bike lanes/paths (with enforcement).

These things endanger everyone riding a bike or legal e-bike. Worse, they deter some from even trying.
