i used to have a screenshot of a royalroad commenter saying they're so annoyed at this chapter and they hate how it's going because the chapter contains the main character having a slight setback that isn't immediately fixed by the end of the same chapter but i've lost it

i beg of you to consider the consequences of your worldview. the main founder of all this explicitly agreed that children who die of cancer probably "deserve" to (they didn't manifest a cure), because that's consistent, and how do you not see that that's abhortent

people will enthusiastically and openly say "yes" to "are you a practitioner of magical thinking?" almost as much as they'll say "no" and we wonder why people think "my guy being in office will make my life better"

the obvious joke here would make me indistinguishable from the angry masses

i've been lucky, my upstairs neighbors are generally great except they have a dog who drops a ball sometimes

thank you google, very cool
Google search for "toeing the line". AI overview claims: "Toting the line" is a misspelling of the idiom "toeing the line,".

Hey a thing I really don’t want to get lost here is that while Tylenol doesn’t cause autism, IT’S FINE TO BE AUTISTIC. Let’s not grant them the premise that autism should be eradicated in our way to correct the science, okay? Okay.

Pretty good, right?

Well, in a world where 30% of the country lives in New York City, specifically,

I don't know how the media is still behind on basic facts like "AI is not an accurate reflection of the reality it's modeling, if it's modeling reality at all"

"No, because I don't live in one of those cities that are always burning down like Portland"

yeah, and saying "undertale is one of the GOATs" is also right. but I can't think of a better action RPG than KH2, even though, like, *surely* there is one, right?

i was actually surprised to find *this* one is controversial but then i realized i played undertale when i was 20 the week it came out and they played undertale 2 years after it came out when they were 10. i still think kingdom hearts 2 is one of the greatest games of all time, so i get it

i read more of the article and they're investing in energy (read: oil) and utilities (read: water) at a datacenter location. truly cartoonish people exist

i cannot imagine what sort of brain leads one to say something like "we are now at a stage where most models have 'genius' IQs and are just 1-2 years away from starting a superintelligence cycle that could make them powerful employees." incredible lack of imagination or general thinking skills

no, i imagine they actually hired people if they were doing anything worth doing

chatgpt still sucks for doing anything non-trivial

Any more nerdy and they'd be clambering for a condorcet method of tallying the results

i know if it seems like it suddenly popped up from nowhere it's reasonable to say that "calling it AI is a marketing gimmick" but, like, the actual research that went into this stuff for >50 years has, in fact, been called "AI" the whole time? this is another "please focus on the real problems" post
