Retired engineer. World traveler. The older I become, the further left I lean. Worked in all tiers of government and the private sector. Sixth generation Australian. An immigrant to Yirrganydji Country.
Being an optimist and a firm believer that most Australians want the same result and only differ in the methodology to achieve it, I was greatly impressed by the bus analogy in this story...

This couple is on opposite sides of the political divide. Here's how they make it work
More Australian relationships are struggling because of political divides. But experts say this does not have to be the end.

Yes, antisemitism needs fixing! Perhaps we could look at a more holistic approach and fix a few other problems too!
IMHO 1st step in stopping antisemitism is to just call it racism

There doesn't need to be different names for different types of racism

That diminishes the word 'racism' & allows it to be indifferent, normalised, casual

All racism is repugnant, all the same thing

In my lifetime, I've seen the demise of the British Empire, the Soviet Union and the United States of America. What's next?

A recent episode of ABC's Back Roads about the town of Harvey in WA troubles me. If I were a rabid right winger, I'd be claiming it as a success story for integration and the old White Australia Policy. If a loony leftie, Multiculturalism. Perhaps we should simply celebrate a successful community.

Perhaps when the felon, the liar, the rapist and the pedophile eventually meet up with King Charles, Prince Andrew could join them for lunch?

There is a reason former US Presidents step back from politics. Yesterday's Man, whose views no longer align with the majority of Australians might learn from his former "mates".
Beijing punished Australia's loyalty to US, Scott Morrison tells Congress
Scott Morrison appears before a committee of the US Congress to implore America to "never become casual" about the economic threats posed by China and its willingness to weaponise trade.

Is there anything more pathetic than the Trumpsters on X posting variations of "Please Sir, I'm one of yours, why are you doing this to me?"

I've just voted in Leichhardt and my exit poll (based on whose how to vote card people were carrying) tells me it's a repeat of '07 - the last time Warren Entsch retired!

I'm voting Tuesday... You have 3 days left!
(after that, PLEASE shut the fuck up)

I'm just sick and tired of Labor's "Mediscare" campaign and the LNP's negative gearing scare tactics. When they come up with new policies that reflect the present position in the world such as a complete review of Australia's defence and of our current treaties, then I might consider voting for them

Wbat I'd give to have a candidate lime Zoe in Leichhardt... actually I'd give them my vote!
AUKUS isn’t just about submarines — it’s about trust, leadership, and protecting Australia’s future. We’ve spent $800M with no plan, no guarantees, and no Plan B. I’m calling for a full, independent review. Good allies ask — and answer — hard questions. #AUKUS #GoldsteinVotes

In the USA good people who could not bring themselves to vote for Harris BUT would NEVER vote for the alternative inadvertently caused this chaos. They simply didn't vote! There's a lot to be said for the 🇦🇺 system of compulsory voting. The price we have to pay for living in a democracy.
