Yeah my wife and I joined the diversity committees at our respective jobs and quit out of frustration. They were barely more than book clubs and group therapy that didn’t seem to care about doing anything. And what they did drive felt more like preachy evangelism than structural policy changes.

It’s crucial failing was falling into a pattern “my job as an activist is to identify problems to complain about” but figuring out practical, actionable steps to fix them is someone else’s job.

I don’t know if a uniform swing of, like, 2% of voters constitutes a ”resounding” anything. We talk about every change in hands as if there’s an earthquake in popular opinion but it’s only the outcomes that swing because of how winner-take-all the system is. The ground reality barely needs to shift.
