That is the right kind of trauma to be treated by EMDR. From a complex trauma specialist who is fed up with people asking whether EMDR would help them.

Makes sense. Sounds like you made the right choice. If death (yours or theirs) feels like the only way out of a relationship then sounds like that relationship isn't good for your sense of personal agency.
