Jonathan Polnay KC of QEB Hollis Whiteman appeared for the Attorney General in an Unduly Lenient Sentence appeal before the Court of Appeal in the case of Vitale Tanga. Following the Solicitor General’s referral, the Court increased Tanga’s minimum term to 32 years and six months.

In R (Bates) v Highbury Corner MC & Westhead, the Divisional Court overturned Murphy (2015), restoring the right to recover inter partes costs in criminal JRs under s.51.
