This is really starting to come together. I think it's at least going to be another few months because there's some graphics to do, but I feel like as far as text goes I can get most of it done soon.

・joined a romhacking proj, started my own
・lined up interviews to move to japan then canceled them last min (lol)
・bought an aircon (huge)
・started playing jrpgs again

big win yesterday.. made the project compatible with linux and fixed an asm hack that was causing me a lot of problems. we are back on some kino after a couple weeks of snags

has anybody else noticed that big software companies have decided that they dont like to tell the user what's going on anymore? I just installed a square POS and the pinpad says "update needed" and then you tap the alert and it takes you to the wrong screen.

I ended up making a tutorial video because I had a rough time setting up GDB for mGBA debugging on windows. Default GDB does not come with support for ARM processors and I had a rough time figuring that out, so this is for my future self too.

This romhacking stuff is a really similar feeling to when I hit a certain phase in learning Japanese. The one where I had infinite momentum, and every day was fun and challenging. I haven't felt like this in years and tbh I didn't think I would ever find something like this again. OP hobby.

btw, I'm not sure if this is great romhacking advice or not but I'm refactoring my tools to use commandline args rather than just be a bunch of scripts, and now it's way easier to test stuff. Next time I will definitely do that from the start.

Wrote a font injection routine. I got a lot of good advice, so I'm gonna try making the eng font better.
