The dragon wrapped his arms around Joren’s neck and pressed his mouth against Joren’s suck-plumped lips. He broke the kiss and breathed heavily as he looked down the Ichthien’s body. “I want to see you for myself.” His eyes fell to the bronze frontpiece on Joren’s sash. “I want to feel how strong you are.” He spotted a bulge in the trousers Joren wore, which were wrapped off at the knee. He reached back with a foot and brushed the backs of his claws over it. Joren hummed hungrily. “Won’t turn down a good admiration session. He pushed it back in with his thumb and set it aside, then rubbed his hands together. “Drachien, like me. Up in the northern mountains. He flew the gauntlet and looked damn good doing it.” He smeared the salve around the blue length, up and down, until it glistened wet and slick in the lanternlight.

His fingers slid lower, over my collarbones and down my freed chest. “Gods, Giovanni...” “Gio,” I said, basking in his touch. My hunger shushed my old boundaries, a trespassing that quickened and strengthened my pulse. Outside the troupe touch was forbidden, both to keep up the mystery and ensure my safety. Now, however, my safety was a joke, and the only mystery was what Aubrey was stirring in me. I needed to solve it.
