Prisoners deserve access to community regardless of their religion, but the Florida Department of Corrections prohibits it. This is especially upsetting given recent policy changes in Florida, making it more difficult for trans prisoners to access gender-affirming accommodations and healthcare.

For LGBTQ+ people behind bars, penpal programs are one of the only ways to connect to your community and receive support and resources. The exception for Christian programs is an extra slap in the face for LGBTQ+ prisoners, who may have faced marginalization by the church.

We also thoroughly censor hardcore images in all of the material we distribute, which doesn't stop arbitrary decisions being taken in the mailroom, often applying policy in a homophobic manner.

At PCP, we distribute sexual content--and it is one of our most requested resources--because we recognize the reality that sexuality is part of life, as much for incarcerated people as it is for everyone else. Straight p*rn is being circulated inside; we do our best for our queer communities. 🧵 2/3

a couple ways you can help:
-sign up to write to a trans prisoner so you can provide direct emotional support & help connect them to resources
-donate to legal organizations that are fighting for trans prisoner rights, like the Transgender Law Center
-share trans prisoners' words and stories
