They were said to be large enough to hunt elephants which is what this illustration is depicting: a solitary roc swoops down upon a stampeding elephant herd. The enormous talons of the bird are reaching for elephant at the head of the herd. They are the Darkspawn from the Dragon Age games, undead creatures resembling goblins and ogres, they are well armored, brandishing sword, axes and halberds, crowded together and staring you down like they are posing for a horrific club photo for the yearbook.
