Generally, that's not how people use search tools though - to find topics they want to research further elsewhere. Especially not novices to a topic, as in your example.

The trouble is the main people who use these are people who aren't confident in their research abilities otherwise.

As a librarian, AI really isn't good for search applications but people really want it to be. For most search interfaces you need something replicable and you absolutely cannot have hallucinations. AI falls down on both fronts and they don't seem to be solvable problems.

The NIH is the world's single largest funder of research. Or it was.

Or, you know, white immigrants are most willing to talk to reporters right now.

People also forget how legit dangerous cabs used to be, especially for young women. One of the times I came closest to dying was in a cab from Logan when the driver randomly stopped on the highway in 60 mile an hour traffic. The reason Uber worked was because cab service was terrible.

I have spoken with the resistance rangers folks through my work on data rescue and they are legit.

Their accountant website is hilarious. According to FT this is the entire website.

My main professional society, the research data access and preservation association @rdapassociation.bsky.social has made a real effort to be more accessible in their website and online conferences and it is appreciated. They always solicit accessibility needs and feedback.

I just read it this year! Checked it out from the library.

Keep in mind supermarkets in the US are highly regional so the big chains where I grew up aren't the same as out here etc.

Tbh I no longer own anything with a TV antenna, but when I did yes. They would run ads with the local TV news and so on. Also for the big grilling holidays like 4th of July.

Thanksgiving is a big moneymaker for supermarkets. All of my local ones have their promotions up.

Any "efficiency" was swiftly lost trying to find alternate services for stuff like web hosting and software that didn't have reoccurring payments and making sure staff remembered all the payment schedules we had to do. Spent way more in staff salary than it ever saved.

Ok, I know this is a niche complaint, but when musk was talking about reoccurring payments that really annoyed me. I used to work for the state of Florida and we weren't allowed to buy anything that had an automatic payment because of dipshits like musk and it was the *worst.*

There actually is a type of cracker you can buy called nut thins. I'm pretty sure it's almonds though. They're good!

Yeah, I would love an ebike but it's really difficult for me to justify the expense when there's no way I could ride it in the winter and live in an apartment.

Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt seem to have a very wholesome friendship though.
