I grew up in a Mac household and must have played the Marathon demo hundreds of times.

Never made it to the actual game, but the specific tone of voice saying "They're everywhere" is scratched into my brain.

I had to sit and think about this question for a solid twelve hours, but honestly that's about normal amounts of thinking about knights for me.

First off, Howard Pyle's Arthurian knights. Pyle did massive amounts of work for defining the modern aesthetic of knights (also pirates and Robin Hood).

Hmmm, I think they feel like a dad thing to me, but I don't know if that's something that holds true generally or is specific to those I knew.
