@quincyd.bsky.social
I am Geoff Quincy. Vapour Trails is where I collect and write about things that make up the tapestry of the world I was born into, many threads of which are disappearing. An expert in nothing, just an enthusiastic amateur. https://vapourtrails.substack.com
Well this can just fuck right off

@tftimemachine.bsky.social have you ever seen this clip? Its on Stuart Millard's brilliant YouTube channels latest video on Noel featuring him introducing a gurning feature. As if that's not enough the current champion of the time is Mr Ron Looney. Noel heaven.

@profanityswan.bsky.social this is a bit Noel adjacent so naturally I thought of you and Sam when I saw it.

@profanityswan.bsky.social hi Andy, just catching up on TFTM, I have the blu ray of Threads which has a great interview with the creator on it. He says it's called Threads because it's about the threads that hold society together and how fragile they are, so pretty much what Sam said.

@tftimemachine.bsky.social it's a shame Sam doesn't have the vita modular anymore but perhaps one for you Andy as a man (like me) who lives alone and can completely make his own home design choices!

First broadcast in 1979 Minder ran for 11 seasons on ITV, ending in 1994

Perhaps it's because I've delivered messages of this nature to families on more occasions than I care to remember I have seen parents just fall apart in front of your eyes. When I was younger it didn't personally affect me but now it really does even when like on this occasion I'm not involved
Had some horrible news this evening. A young lad from my sons school was killed in an RTC on Friday evening. My sons didn't know him well but it's really quite deeply upset me. Just thinking of this poor young boy losing his life and how horrific this must be for his family.

@andydawson.bsky.social just listened to the first part of Harkers War. The characterisation you and Sam have given Harker is 100% the personality of every copper I met when I joined up 28 years ago. I leave in 2 and cannot wait to be out of it.

Erm! @rhodri.biz time for a reshuffle!

@tftimemachine.bsky.social Hi Pals, was just eating some Edam (not my house cheese obviously) on the kitchen worktop. Saw a small stray piece as I was clearing up and ate it to find it was actually a very potent sliver of scented candle wax. Tasted ok but had to cleanse with a chocolate finger.

@revpeterlaws.bsky.social hi Peter, I wrote out a DM for you but it was apparently too long! Can you DM me an email address where I could write something to you please?

@franticplanet.bsky.social before I even listened to this I heard you singing "Emmerdale Farm" to the tune in my head.
As discussed elsewhere on here, the Emmerdale Farm theme has lyrics. And here's Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent performing it at the studios of Border Television.

They are rammed into the tiny studio with a piano and audience so look how awkward the camera angles and lighting is.

And just out of nowhere it's suddenly here. A huge feeling of dread just dropped inside me like I'd swallowed an anxiety cannonball. It's not even Sunday night.

@grindrod.bsky.social sorry John I meant to tag you in this. Arrived the other day. Absolutely lovely early Christmas present and I was surprised and delighted to see you had signed it too. I'm sure you sign them all I'm not a narcissist! but it's a nice unexpected treat. Thankyou!
It's arrived.

I've written a brief history of the boldest and most unusual definitely not flat roofed pub you've never heard of here

@markayresrws.bsky.social hi Mark, I only found out today you and the Mark Ayers who scored the classic seventh Doctor material are the same man! We met once at the BFI, we have a mutual friend. Yes it's dumb I know but I assumed you were about the same age as me hence too young to be the same guy.

I know I'm not a deep person. I'm quite shallow but I have a large surface area. Does anyone else feel that way?

Trying to persuade myself not to buy tickets to see Ride in Berlin for my son and I in May having tonight just paid out for the Forever Now festival in Milton Keynes and tomorrow going to book Father John Misty in Cambridge both within a few days of each other in June.

Just got my ticket for this so I'm a happy fellow this evening. Happy Christmas to me!

Do the theme tunes to long forgotten TV shows cause a tight knot to appear in the pit of your stomach? You're not alone. Attached is a link to this weeks piece of writing on "Sunday Night Dread"

And a couple showing the interior of Bletchley Leisure Centre. I first went there in about 1982 and had never experienced a swimming pool like it. So forward thinking for the time it was built. Predictably it's gone now replaced with a dreary metal box building and normal pool pictured alongside.
