I do indeed. Seems that basic governance principles no longer apply, Glenn.
I'm not saying they are biased, but risk of subconscious bias exists & it isn't reasonable to expose refs to the potential for a jaundiced public perception, particularly as their general performance is still lacking.

What I still don't understand is why Michael Oliver is let anywhere near a match involving Man City. (Ref or VAR) - I believe he was VAR yesterday.
I know it has changed now, but he previously takes UAE work & no one thinks that there might be a perception of a conflict of interest? Silly.

I caught the Liverpool “equaliser” later. If I were running the line, I wouldn’t be flagging for that. It should have stood in my view.
I just can’t watch any games involving City.

I just have an issue with Man City as a club. There is no reason at this stage why a decision cannot be made in relation to the long standing case against them.
The fact the club have used their substantial resources to retain one of the best legal teams in the UK to defend and delay speaks loudly.

Another thought; based on our karting experience - I have sometimes observed stewards say words to the effect of “in normal circumstances, the incident only merits a 5 second penalty, but because it caused a competitor to crash out, the stewards have to disqualify”
A penalty influenced by outcome.

True. I suppose the context of a Ferrari being eliminated from the race as a result of the incident will colour the situation for the stewards.
The problem we both have is we do not have access to all the data the stewards have.

All that said Rob, we personally have been the victims of a dodgy stewards penalty in the past in karting so yes, sometimes it feels like they make it up as they go along….

I can see the argument alright, but I still think Kimi is marginally ahead of Piastri and I suppose the Stewards have access to the telemetry to know?
Three into one normally doesn’t go at that corner; Oscar needed to make progress and took a big chance going inside in that circumstance.

Btw, there is no way penalty points should be put on his license - that is harsh and unnecessary

Rob, seems to me the penalty was based on the rule book currently in force. Another way to look at it is that Oscar took a risk, he went to the inside in a triple sandwich and it wasn’t his corner per the current rules; he gambled and lost.
My Rotax driving son would tend to agree with you though.

Not sure that is entirely fair, Ray. Liverpool managed to keep their best players fit last year and that meant that they could be stable for sure. But they played incredibly well under Slot and deserved the title in the end.
I do think their summer recruitment unbalanced them & they lost TAA.

It is good to see the English sides do well in Europe (with a couple of exceptions, of course 🙂)
