"Routine" is incredible.

A rare horror game that truly unnerved me. With an environment so meticulously framed and lit that every moment of this experience leaves an impression.

A honed aesthetic that makes expert use of tactile analog tech and liminality both in service of gameplay and identity.

Absolute banger of a mail day.

"The Sword of Doom (1966)"

Tatsuya Nakadai absolutely embodies this role, and his performance lifts what is already an interesting premise, into quintessential viewing. A descent into madness conveyed with a mastery of body language, commanding every scene with a powerful presence.

"The Vourdalak (2023)"

Moody gothic horror with frequent appearances from a wonderful puppet that manages to evoke a feeling of unease while being endearingly goofy.

"Sanjuro (1962)"

Partner film to Yojimbo following the same wandering samurai. A little less engaging than the former, but makes up for it in general goofiness and some great highs. Plus Toshiro Mifune as Sanjuro is always a treat to watch no matter what is happening.

Waiting for car maintenance to be done, but picked up Kirby Air Riders beforehand. So it's Kirby time, baby.

"Yojimbo (1961)"

Continuing my foray into classic samurai films with a quintessential "wandering samurai" flick. A fun story of warring gangs in a small town and a samurai stuck between them. Had tasteful splashes of gore and comedy which took me off guard but added to the experience.

"Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989)"

A screeching, throbbing, cacophonous assault of the senses in the best possible way.

A perfect audio/visual distillation of "industrial" as a concept.

"Possum (2018)"

A miserable trudge through unraveling repressed trauma with the most nightmarish and upsetting puppet I've ever seen. The whole thing reeks of dirt, must, and cigarette stained walls.

Slow, and not entirely subtle by the end, but atmospheric and affecting regardless.

"Seven Samurai (1954)" - Akira Kurosawa

Started off my journey to educate myself on classic samurai cinema with the obvious first choice. A movie which tells a simple story, with masterful execution.

My movie club made me watch "Master of Disguise" this week. I sent them this as my review.

Well my initial post expressing desire to educate myself on classic samurai films was pretty unfortunately timed, but I got these in the mail today so it looks like I'm also gonna also be watching them in honor of Tatsuya Nakadai.

Back on the general #2025watches thread.

"Predator: Killer of Killers (2025)"

Wanted to check this out before for Badlands and was very surprised at just how incredibly cool this was. Brisk, engaging stories in three different time periods dealing with various Predator threats.

Celebrating my birthday a bit late since my wife was busy the day of, and she got me a Godzilla cake!

My boi is looking like the Hannah Barbara version which cracks me up.

I ordered it a bit too late for Halloween, but I'm still stoked to have just received my copy of "Trick or Treat with Reed Richmond" from @chrislamartina.bsky.social .

Might hold off and save this one for next year, but I adore WNUF and Halloween Mega Tape so I'm excited to check it out when I do.

And then right after when he defeats the enemy by teaming up with legally distinct Ultraman, Godzilla throws a peace sign and gives him a firm, friendly handshake and bow.

Thinking about this scene in Zone Fighter Episode 21 where Godzilla randomly pops up, hauls ass, does a dorky pose, then beats the ever-loving shit out of this tentacle monster.

In honor of #GodzillaDay, here's what I consider to be one of the greatest scenes in all of cinema from Godzilla Final Wars.

My October Blu-ray/4k pickups.

Absolutely stoked there is finally an Edgerunners set, and a very nice one at that.

My mom sent me a (fairly blurry) pic of me dressed as a California Raisin for Halloween when I was 6 years old.

Honestly, I peaked here I think.
