Many of the early bosses are women, and Melinoe's sisterly relationship with Artemis is also highlighted. There are of course also a number of great male characters (Narcissus is especially delightful) but the way women are in the foreground is truly refreshing and rare in mainstream gaming.

One thing I really appreciate about Hades 2 is how the team obviously deliberately chose to center women in this game. The protagonist and her mentor are both women, as is the rivals-to-lovers character, Nemesis. Melinoe's power is rooted in witchcraft which seems to be solely a feminine pursuit.

I’m having a lot of fun with Hades 2. It’s not hitting quite as hard as Hades 1 did but I think that’s more due to circumstances - during 2020 lockdown when we all had nothing else to do games like Hades kept us sane. Still, I love Melinoë and the cast and can’t wait to finally beat Chronos.
