Keep it weird, Portland!

And the amazing thing is she is the Bishop who then presided at the National Prayer service who firmly but gracefully spelled out the Gospel for those gathered. And those in power were confused and affronted as if her words came out of nowhere.

Many of my clergy colleagues are back to wearing their collars, others make sure to have a spare in the car. The church has been invisible on this far too long.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Will pass it on to some of my catless Rochester folks - but maybe post it to the Gamer Wives as well?

Since many of us are cancelling streaming services, now might also be a good time to support writers and artists. Times are extremely tough for creatives, so why not buy a book, commission an art piece, sign up for a Patreon, tip your favorite creators. Everything helps.

I worked a pizza truck at the Erie County Fair for a few years. We were right next to the I Got It tent. Too much fun.

Little of this, little of that! I hear you’re retiring? Incredibly happy for you!

This.

And who are the leaders who can do this radical work? In addition to protesting what is, we must imagine what might be… and empower those with the creativity and the courage to make it happen.

Whenever Trumpist rule ends, business as usual, a return to “normalcy,” a project of mere restoration of the status quo ante won’t do. America will need something akin to Radical Reconstruction - a transformative vision that presents a response commensurate with this radical assault on democracy.

Although “show of force” is consider off limits as well, no?

You pointed to what was used to support civil rights. That was the Guard and Title 10. As I’ve stated… the use of Marines as a show of force is a violation of posse comitatus. And with that, we come full circle I wish you well.
