Poster showing a pink/red octopus with a cute face. The background is a white and blue water cartoon-like graphic. The text reads: Would you walk away from Omelas? An Ursula Le Guin Themed Creative Writing Workshop, 11th October, 4 pm, online. In this workshop, led by science fiction writer, poet, and philosophy lecturer Dr Rachel Handley, you will be invited to explore Le Guin's short stories and related themes. There will be opportunities to respond to writing prompts based on Le Guin's and other's work throughout the workshop. The workshop will be very interactive, and writers at all levels are very welcome to attend. You'll also have the chance to read out what you've written during the workshop.

Yes and sometimes. I am known to switch allegiance to green on occasion.

Going to the shop around the corner now to beat the lunch time rush for average sandwhiches 💪

Glad everyone is safe and that the damage was only minimal!

I also feel this way about space. Being in space looking down on the earth sounds terrifying. Presumably it is also quite a beautiful sight. But I think I'd mostly feel terror.

Caves are one of those types of spaces which would be cool to explore but absolutely not by me because I would immediately perish.

That's me in the corner
That's me in the park, I'm
Several thousand pigeons
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've coo'd too much
I haven't coo'd enough

Yesterday I attended the induction for our first year philosophy students and realised that it was 18 years, almost to the day, when I was a Liverpool philosophy student attending my induction. Possibly in the very same room. It was both a delightful and surreal realisation.

As always, today is a good day to support a writer, an artist, a creator. If you have the means, commission an art piece, leave a tip, buy a book. Or you can always signal boost their work or write them a nice comment.
