Gun Violence Prevention advocate, policy nerd, and community organizer. Proud Illinoisan and March For Our Lives Board Member.

On a quest to bake a perfect chocolate chip cookie and make our communities safer. Thrilled to have left the bad place (X).
As Angela Ferrell-Zabala says, “Our collective safety is worth fighting for.” I have dedicated my life to building a future free from gun violence, and I will do everything in my power as an elected official to continue to bring us closer to that future.

When Sen. Hirono asked Hegseth if he would carry out an order to shoot protestors, he dodged the question.

In addition to the sexual assault allegations, drinking on the job, and ties to white nationalism, Hegseth doesn’t believe in the first amendment.

This is disqualifying.

The victims and survivors of the shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison will carry this trauma for the rest of their lives.

Every elected official who voted against gun violence prevention legislation is complicit. Our children deserve action, not empty thoughts and prayers.

Gun violence is a public health crisis. Full stop.

AND public health prevention frameworks used on other issues (ex: smoking) may not be applicable given the deep historical, racial, and political roots of firearms in this country.

Grateful to @jonathanmetzl.bsky.social for the engaging talk.

The organizing team brought young people from across the country to DC to push Congress for an accountability vote on the federal Assault Weapons Ban.

And the communications team helped convey our wins to the press and public.

Along the way, I have learned so much and made lifelong friends. (3/4)

Over the following months, the March For Our Lives policy team helped me turn my pain into purpose to pass a ban on assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and switches in Illinois.

The MFOL legal team advised us as we rallied in the streets and fought to protect this law in the courts. (2/4)

Please join me in donating to @marchforourlives.bsky.social on #GivingTuesday.

This photo is from the first rally I organized as a student. I was overwhelmed, but the MFOL staff coached me through this march and provided support following the mass shooting in my hometown just weeks later. (1/4)

Just donated to Brave Space Alliance in Nancy Mace’s name. Brave Space Alliance is a Black-Led, Trans-Led LGBQ+ Center on the south side of Chicago providing affirming, culturally competent resources.

I also requested they send a letter of thanks to Nancy Mace’s office.

They want us to be frantic and panicked and distracted.

But we know that our strength comes from community—the people and places we love. And our community is powerful.

Get connected with mutual aid groups. Donate to local nonprofits. Run for office. And most importantly, ORGANIZE.
