Food webs are the blueprint of ecosystems.

Want to know what fuels migrating birds? Or how invasive species disrupt rivers and lakes? The answers are in the food web — and stable isotopes let us read it.

When you're dealing with huge video file transfers and the hard drive keeps overheating....
Do any other researchers using #BRUVS and #camera tech relate? 🧪📷

Excited to share the lab's 1rst preprint! Rapid high-res immunofluorescence is now possible in cultured & environmental diatoms thanks to 4-fold expansion microscopy. A step-change for comparative cell biology in one of the most important phytoplankton groups on the planet 🥳

Sir David Attenborough’s #Ocean is a stark reminder of the damage we’re inflicting and the how we must act to restore Earth's underwater habitats. 🪸

With #UNOC3 underway, countries need to agree to, and follow, the UN High Seas Treaty so we can protect 30% of our oceans by 2030.

🚢 As Arctic sea ice melts, more ships are moving in — and so is more pollution.

WWF-Canada’s Sam Davin joins Yale Climate Connections to explore how rising ship traffic is affecting Arctic waters and why a lot more needs to be done to protect it.

🎧 Take a listen. ⬇️
Melting ice brings more ships – and more pollution – to Arctic waters » Yale Climate Connections
New rules will reduce airborne toxins, but an environmental group says discharge from scrubbers still threatens the fragile Arctic.

What's at stake with Bill 5? 🤔

"Our data shows that without action, Ontario is on the path to losing iconic species such as the Eastern wolf, American badger & barn owl... The hopeful news is that we also know how to reverse the path we’re on." — WWF-Canada's Emily Giles

Read the op-ed here. ⬇️
Giles: Ontario must not dismantle protection for endangered wildlife
Bill 5 would scrap the province’s landmark Endangered Species Act — at a time when we are increasingly concerned about our natural world.
