Lovely bit in this interview with South African cricket captain, Temba Bavuma, on the aspirational nature of infrastructure and how any form of infrastructure can be cultural.

www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/j...
“In Langa we had a four-way street,” he says, his face crinkling with the memories. “On the right-hand side of the street the tar wasn’t done so nicely and we used to call it Karachi because the ball would bounce funny. The other side was the MCG [Melbourne Cricket Ground] but my favourite section of the street was clean, and done up nicely, and we called it Lord’s because it just looked better. So, as a kid of 10, I already had that dream of playing at Lord’s.”

71% of children and young people with cancer struggle with the cost of travelling to treatment, and one in 10 miss or delay treatment because they can't afford to get there.

We’re sad to hear the news about Eddie Jordan. Eddie was an incredible supporter of Young Lives vs Cancer. He raised a huge amount for us by organising many fundraising days, and used his platform to help young people we support get their voices heard. We'll forever be thankful for his support.

Still internalising the Vance Munich speech. A sitting Vice President goes to Europe, barely says a word about the despotic murderous regime which has invaded its neighbour, and instead lectures his allies about freedom of speech. It’d be funny if it weren’t so serious.
