Air Traffic Control, 🏔️🥾🚴🏼‍♂️🛶⛺️🌯🌮🥞
This new system is less than two years old, EWR used to be controlled at the N90 facility on Long Island, the FAA moved the EWR area to PHL and that is when the issues started, they did not do a direct radar feed, just a copy of the feed from N90 which is causing the issues.

Yeah agreed, and they could have done more to increase staffing, they did some stuff but not enough, we are seeing a bigger push now but without pay increases I am worried about controller retention especially if we get 0% raises over the next few years.

Reading this closely…no quick change in staffing, they are just “adding more” eventually.

The long term fix is the STARs hub at PHL and direct radar lines, that was already the plan but they don’t mention if they are speeding it up.

Redundancy in lines is good but how many did they already have?

It’s more than the Biden administration, plans for the move are decades old, the process started under the first Trump admin.

The issue is long term in the FAA more than any specific administration, leadership does not take responsibility, they want a quick “fix” even if it is worse later.

Ooof yeah that will do it

Wasn’t surprised when were holding EWRs over NC earlier today, but we when starting holding LGAs as well and then rerouting them over CLE I was like what the heck is going on up there lol

Weather is crazy up there right now

Wow, that’s a day. Do you guys have any limits on shift length? At the FAA we can only work a max of 10 hours, but as ATC fatigue is a big deal
