Overheard three high school kids here in Australia giving their high school teacher/librarian advice on not sounding too smart or looking too ethnic on her upcoming travel to a convention in the US. That’s how it’s looking to the youth of the world. Are they wrong?

It’s officially Australia Day. I’ve lived happily & comfortably in 3 different countries but I’ve yet to land on a patriotic day that isn’t mostly icky. Maybe it’s what Fromm was talking about. It’s especially hard to party on a day commemorating the raising of a colonial flag on First Nations land.
