I am a ttrpg freak so I'm not interested in Dungeons and Optimized Dragons and the Ampersand fans are not interested in DOD so I'm not surprised it's hard to pull numbers for that. Have you tried writing an article about the Tactical Hell Invasion game or JRPG TTRPG or Dishonored Gang Wars?

I think tabletop games are a lot like videogames in the sense that they are not inherently challenging but rather require learning a subset of skills and lingo - any individual game not difficult for an outsider so much as learning to game is the initial challenge.

Lots of work goes into simplifying and shrinking the information overhead in reading/learning modern ttrpgs but very little effort is made to "teach" them. You either intuitively understand what a ttrpg is or you need someone to explain it to you.

I think ttrpgs have this thing specifically and recently where they are being designed - from a UX and marketing perspective - to target non-gamers but systematically they are unconsciously designed for ttrpg gamers.
